Ravenghast
Recovery Ward

Yui couldn't seem to keep herself awake for extended periods of time, her vision fading in and out, allowing her to catch little bits of sound.

She could barely make out King's annoying yo-o and Peach's voice as well.. She couldn't tell what they were saying, but they sounded awfully concerned.

Her vision faded to black for a moment before returning. Everything around her a a fuzzy and hard to make out, surrounded by unfamiliar blurred faces, buzzing about in some sort of fuss. Her vision returned to darkness a final time, Ikas's voice piping up in the back of her mind and speaking "You're so stupid.. Almost dying for a child! Maybe you should have!". Her voice faded as Yui's vision started to return, clearing up after a while and giving her a clear view of the ceiling.

She wanted to look for the child, but could barely turn her head without pain.. Let alone get up and move around. She looked around with what little movement she could muster, noticing that the room seemed insanely clean. Various potions and gems seemed to rest on a table a ways away from her, with some larger yellowish crystals dangling from the ceiling via chains, providing a warm light to the room.

Yui was in a semi-uncomfortable bed, with similar ones to her sides, as well as making up a line along the opposite wall.

She figured she would need to wait until someone came around to try to move around, not yet realizing distinct lack of a left hand just yet..

Chapter 3: Sleep

Ravenghast
The Path of the Dragoon

Chapter 3: Sleep Sceneravenghast
Nearly two days have passed since Bahamut appeared above Redhold. King and Peach have taken the injured Yui Saki to Ravenghast to be treated. But unfortunately they weren't able to stay and wait for Yui to wake up. They needed to report to the capital as soon as possible. But they did leave Yui to the more than capable care of the Maesters of Ravenghast.

Yui was taken to Ravenghast's infirmary where she now recovers after her deadly encounter with a Drangling. Unfortunately the Maesters were unable to give Yui back her lost arm. She would now have to live as a mute and as a person who is missing one limb. One of the attendants noticed the Yui was already awake. He approached her and told her not to move just yet. "You mustn't be in a haste to move about. Give it some time, the Maesters have already healed your external wounds but your mind will needs some time to rest."

The attendant was about to leave when he suddenly remembered to deliver a message to Yui once she has woken up. He returned and added, "When you're ready, please go see Grand Maester Pamfilo Akzion. He has something he wishes to discuss with you." After elivering his message, the attendant left to care for other patients.

Chapter 3: Sleep
Ravenghast
The Path of the Dragoon

Yui struggled to start moving once the man approached her, trying to sit up before being forced to stop my a sharp pain in her midsection.

Her mind was racing as the man told her to not be so quick to try moving, her mouth trying to make the movements for "Child", " Infant" and "Safe", but the man continued talking. He started walking away as she tried harder to get info, trying again to move even with the pain she was experiencing.

But her body simply wasn't going to have that, as every nerve in her seemed to light up with pain.

Yui pressed her head back against the pillow with what little strength she had, only just now noticing that her left hand was gone. Her mind replayed the events for her, tears building up in the corner of her eyes. Tears ran down towards her ears as she lay there, frustration and anger starting to set in.

She could feel pain where her hand and part of her forearm were removed, experiencing the event over and over again as she tried to remember anything past when she sat in front of the child.

But she simply couldn't, as she had blacked out. Not knowing stressed her out, losing an arm stressed her out..and overall she just couldn't take it.

Her face twisted as she tried to hold it all in, displaying an angry expression that quickly warped into one of crying.

Her face started turning red as she screamed in sadness and frustration, nothing but a meek scratching noise being heard as she broke down and started bawling.

Tears ran down the sides of her face, slowly starting to soak the pillow as they had nowhere else to go. The only sounds she could make was that of trying to suck snot back up into her nose as she cried, not having the mobility to wipe her own nose yet.

Ikas was already laughing in her mind, taunting her for being so stupid. But Yui didn't bother arguing back, the only thought in her mind bring the reoccurring question of "What happened", to which Ikas could only respond with " You got your ass kicked!" And continued laughing.

Eventually a thought started to crop up in the midst of her trying to figure things out, telling her that this world was almost as cruel as earth.

It was too unfair, she thought as she continued crying.

Stranded on a different world, enslaved, forced to stab a kid, forced to fight for her life, arrested, lost an arm..

She had a lot of reasons to be stressed out..and it was all coming to a head as she bawled to her hearts content in bed, wishing that she could get the answers she needed.

Chapter 3: Sleep
Ravenghast Recovery Ward
The Path of the Dragoon

Yui felt like she could barely move when a wave of nausea washed over her, building until her body instinctively sat up.

It hurt like absolute hell as many of her bones popped when she moved, rushing to find herself anywhere to vomit. She didn't get very far, however, collapsing pathetically next to her bed as her legs gave out beneath her.

Her tears blurred her vision as she continued crying, starting to cough as a feelish of pressure slowly rose up inside of her.

When whatever was building up within could go no further, a simple cough caused a mostly clear liquid to spring forth from her mouth.

The liquid was slightly pink, probably from internal injuries that had mended, but most of what came from her was clear, if anything came up at all.

Her crying was only encouraging her to cough and vomit further, dry heaving over and over as she struggled to regain her senses.

After twenty minutes of painful dry heaving and making a notable puddle of ick on the floor she finally stopped.

She tried to push herself off of the ground to assist her in getting to her feet, but nearly fell into her own puddle of vomit as she forgot her left arm was now notably shorter.

She was incredibly stiff as she got to her feet, stumbling towards the exit of the room. Someone was looking to see her and, at the moment, she needed answers.

She found a hallway that was similarly clean and lit by crystals like the room she was in, the interior reminding her of an older type office building or detective agency back on earth. Many walls with rooms on the other side had frosted glass and a wooden bottom roughly halfway down its length. It allowed partial vision to see if there was someone there, but not enough to see through clearly.

Her body became a little easier to move as she searched the halls, occasionally peeking into a room every so often. The place seemed very much like a hospital, but was eerily quiet..almost like a library.

Chapter 3: Sleep

Ravenghast
The Path of the Dragoon

The rooms that Yui had been peeping into were no more than storage areas for certain documents. An attendant, sent to fetch, went to the recovery ward but didn't find the girl there. He went out of the room and searched the halls, there he found Yui, walking the halls alone. He goes to the depressed girl and tells her, "Excuse me. The Grand Maester wishes to speak with you. Could you follow me into his office.?"

The attendant led Yui through the halls and up to the 3rd floor of the massive institution. Then he entered a large wooden door, at the end of the hallway, with numerous magical runes etched on to it. "This way please."

Chapter 3: Sleep

Ravenghast
The Path of the Dragoon

Yui was about to poke her head into another room when she heard a man speak to her from behind, causing her to jump slightly and turn around to face him.

She spun a little too fast when she turned, losing her balance momentarily and stumbling towards a wall. She extended her left arm towards the wall to brace herself but, due to a lack of length, only gained more momentum and slammed into the wall.

"Oh right, I lost my fucking arm" She said, tears building up once more as she had one of the rarest of occurrences where she simply forgot she couldn't speak, managing to unleash a few scratches of air and not much else.

Yui collected herself and wiped the tears from her eyes as she finally processed what the man had said, trying to put on a brave face as he began to leave.

She found it hard to focus with all that was on her mind, so she simply focused on following the man in front of her. She had to slow down once they made it to the stairs, every step she took getting to the third floor simply taking more and more out of her. She was breathing so loudly by the time she reached the wooden door that she almost couldn't hear the man say "This way, please.".

Yui made note of the large door and etchings, her interest in the etchings giving her a moment of clarity as the torrent of thoughts and questions stopped long enough for her to think the door looked pretty cool.

But the clarity didn't last long, the flood of questions and feelings nearly overwhelming her. But she kept her brave face on, inhaling sharply through her nose to keep any boogers from dangling or dripping off of her. It sounded god awful, but it needed to be done.

Ravenghast
The Path of the Dragoon

Chapter 3: Sleep Scenelibrary
The attendant opened the door and gestured for Yui to enter inside. He waited for Yui to step inside before closing the doors behind her. Through the door, a large collection of uncommon books filled the walls of this massive and well lit room. There was an old man, wearing a faded blue robe standing in the corner, tending to some scientific contraption. As soon as he sensed that Yui had entered the room, and was close enough to hear him, he began speaking.
Chapter 3: Sleep Scenegrndmser
"First they tell me that a portal to a whole different world opens up and a large winged beast came from it. I didn't believe them."

"Then they tell me a demon appeared in Drakestone. I didn't believe them either, those savages are always so desperate to quench their thirst for blood that they are willing to experiment on all sorts of things."

"Then... Then Sixth Lion, dies after battling a demon..."

"And now Dragons have destroyed Redhold. So you could say that I am choosing to doubt myself."

The Grand Maester took his contraption and made his way towards Yui. His gaze was not of delight but of disappointment, fear, and hope. He turns his back from Yui and goes to his chair and sits there comfortably.

"It wasn't easy healing your wounds. But you are fortunate your friends in the army brought you to me. Unfortunately child,  there is no magic to regrow a lost limb. Well none that doesn't concern Blood Magic that's for sure."

"I know what you are, you're a mute. I've done a complete assessment of your body while you were asleep. It's your tongue."

The Grand Maester's didn't suspect that Yui was from another world because she n longer had the her Gate Pass on her. Then his aura suddenly became more serious. He dropped all the zig zags and went straight to the point. "Your friends tell me that you're looking for Jenn Gerdis. She was once one of my students. She was one of my brightest and most talented students. It was really unfortunate what happened to her. She went missing 2 years ago after investigating Lake Supot following a report that claimed there were sightings of the Undead."

"I wish to help you in your journey to find her. Here take this with you. It's something of my own design. Originally it was supposed to serve the Maester over at Adellion but he passed away some months ago. He will have no need for this."

"I've modified it to your size. It should prove to be useful in your journey north. I also changed the name to suit you better."

The Grand Maester hands Yui a mechanical contraption that uses the magical impulses of the user to replace a lost limb.

"Basically it's a new hand that shoots stakes at your enemies. You need to strap it in and almost instantly the magic receptors in the contraption should connect with your own. Go ahead try it. Just not on me ^^"

Chapter 3: Sleep

Ravenghast
The Path of the Dragoon

Yui's mouth was already moving as the robed man approached, trying to ask this "Grand Maester" what had happened. She had a notable look of concern on her face regarding the child she tried to save, given that the child was the entire reason she lost her arm to begin with.

She stopped once he began talking, really only catching her attention when the words "Portal" and "Different world" were mentioned. She did her best to listen as best she could, still somewhat distraught. Her poker face broke momentarily as she had to be reminded by someone else that she was mute, although she knew the medics here were wrong regarding her tongue. Unless the tongues of people in this world were different from her own, anyway.

She moved closer to where he had taken a seat in order to ensure she heard him clearly, her mind becoming a little more focused once the man had mentioned Cassea's daughter, especially with the more serious note he had taken.

Yui was confused as the man handed her the prosthetic arm, taken somewhat aback by the detail in it even though she didn't suspect it would even work. It was quite intricate and looked very solid, grasping it around the forearm and tucking it beneath her left armpit as she motioned with her free hand for something to write with.

Yui found that it wasn't very heavy, despite all the metal it seemed to have. The armored portion seemed to run well past where she had no arm, requiring her to remove her armored shoulder piece in order to put it on.

She kept it beneath her left armpit as she examined it with her right hand. Each of the fingers were each made up of several metal pieces shaped like the portion of finger it was meant to replace, her thumb making up two pieces whilst the rest of her fingers made up three pieces each. She pressed down on one of the gaps between the fingers, finding a black flexible material beneath it with something hard hidden beneath that, most likely framework for the appendage.

Yui found that the black material filled in all of the gaps that the prosthetic had, giving it the appearance of a heavily armored, but normal, arm. Each finger ended with a large metal ball, serving to act as knuckles and connect them to the main armor piece that made up half of the back of her hand, with little indentations to allow for the balls to sit halfway inside of a finger and half inside of the hand. She found that the palm of her hand was flat with a large round opening in the center with a ring around it, but that two additional plates were attached to make up the area for a thumb as well as bottom left portion of the hand.

An additional metal plate was attached to the one that connected to the knuckles and fingers, housing two large screws that likely held everything together. A large section of that plate was cut away to house half of a giant screw-like thing, but she couldn't quite get a look at its inner workings to figure out how it moved, as the black material also surrounded it.

It connected the hand to the forearm, which was made up of two large pieces of metal that were shaped like a proper forearm, although the forearm had a piece of metal mounted atop it. The armor plate resting atop the forearm curved to fit atop the metal forearm, but stood up notably due to its thickness. It had three large indented areas running along its length, the left and right ones curving to end where a screw was placed whilst the middle ended halfway, creating a gap for the rest of the length along the arm and revealing a hollow area within.

She kept turning the prosthetic around to examine it, her finger pressing down on a small separated portion of the armor plate, designed to be somewhat hidden. With a soft click the armored section resting atop the forearm swung outwards, since she was holding the thing upside down.

Yui flipped the arm back over and found that it opened, with two little metal struts to keep it from falling whilst she was investigating it. She got a good look at the inside of the forearm section now, finding that it was hollow and housed a circular mechanism housing three nearly forearm-length sharp metal stakes. She pressed on one with her finger, finding that the stakes could rotate and were held it place by little rings. Beneath that was simply a metal chute of some sort, leading to a hold that looked very similar to the one on the palm of the metal hand and, whilst she could manage to see through it to a limited extent, she had no idea how it was supposed to work.

She couldn't really see any sort of firing mechanism, though she was pretty sure that she heard the old man mention that it could shoot things. She slid the compartment closed and continued her investigation of the arm, finding a section of the forearm that looked like it would house what little bit of arm she had left. It was made entirely of the black material, with two smaller pieces of metal going along the left and right sides and attaching to a larger metal plate that went over the upper portion of the arm, serving as protection for the inside of her elbow as well as bridging to the upper arm.

The upper arm was made up of two four sections of metal, made to split in half and close around the upper arm. It ran almost all the way up into her armpit, whilst the outer side seemed to continue up to cover most of the shoulder.

She removed the straps from the armor plate on her left arm and brought it down, using her knees to hold the plate in place whilst she opened up the upper arm portion of the prosthetic and carefully slid her arm into it. She shuddered slightly from the cold metal as she slowly slid her arm into it, her remaining bit of forearm slipping into the end of the forearm piece. Once she was sure it was on properly she'd swing close the upper portion of arm, closing six metal latches that served to secure it to her arm.

Yui has gained and equipped DRAGON IMPALER!

She could feel a response as the hand jumped to life, the magic receptors making a connection as the hand stretched out into a full open palm and startling her. In that brief moment and with a notable thwack sound, a large metal stake slid straight out of the circular opening in the palm of the metal hand and sank into the floor with a loud clunk.

She jumped in response and inadvertently fired a second shot close to the first, before finally calming down. She looked to the "Grand Maester" with an apologetic look on her face, which was now starting to turn quite red from embarrassment. She started moving the prosthetic around a touch, however, finding that it had a proper range of motion by comparison to her actual arm, though naturally she couldn't feel much through it, only that she could feel it moving.

She grabbed her armored shoulder pad and placed it back onto her arm over the prosthetic, finding that the prosthetic was so well fit to her that it allowed her to strap the armored piece back into place over it without issue.

She continued to move it around to test it out, though she made absolutely sure to keep the circle pointed very well away from anyone.

Chapter 3: Sleep

Ravenghast
The Path of the Dragoon

The Grand Maester was delighted that Yui liked the his gift. If only he wasn't Grand Maester of Ravenghast, he would surely help Yui in her quest to find Jenn. Buy sadly he had responsibilities here and cannot really go anywhere. He was also feeling sad that he wasn't able to cure Yui's inability to speak. There were, however, several people in Wrozan who could. One of them was Corneus Corvall, the 6th Lion who is now dead. There was another person who could help Yui speak again but it would be out of her way to Lake Supot. Still, the Grand Maester decided that it might be useful to Yui so he suggested, "If you wish to get that tongue of your looked at, try going to Ade'leon. It's located in the south western part of the continent, passed the Alfeiran territory. I you need a map there's one in the table beside you. You may have it."

"The hospitality of Ravenghast is yours. When you're ready, go speak with the quartermaster, Cid Highwind. He'll provided you with transport and some supplies for your journey. I wish you the best of luck child. I hope you find Jenn. Alive or...."

The Grandmaester retired to his chair and opened a large book.

Chapter 3: Sleep

Ravenghast
The Path of the Dragoon

Yui took a knee and pried the two metal stakes out of the floor, popping open the dragon impaler and placing the two shots back within it. She closed the prosthetic arm with a soft clicking sound and reached out with it to take the map, intending to press down on a corner of it and slide it off the table to grab it. However, her finger would dig into the table somewhat due to the decreased sensitivity versus her actual arm.

She gave the Maester an apologetic smile and scratched the back of her head with her right hand before grabbing and rolling up the map with that, figuring it would be best if she didn't destroy the thing before she could use it.

Whilst the prospect of her being able to speak again was interesting, she was currently more interested in getting some answers. A lot had happened, sure, but she had no idea what happened after she was incapacitated.

The Grand Maester seemed to be ignoring her after saying his piece, so she simply left with the map in order to look for this "Cid Highwind" character.

Chapter 3: Sleep

Ravenghast
The Path of the Dragoon

The attendant was waiting for Yui outside the room. He gave Yui a modest bow and then said, "This way please. I already took the liberty of collecting you belongings and loading them on to the ship. The quartermaster is waiting for your at the main grounds. Follow me please."

The attendant led Yui to the main grounds, there the quartermaster Cid Highwind was waiting alone in the empty field. There was a rope ladder that seemed to lead to the heavens. A closer inspection reveals that there was a floating airship overshadowing the main grounds.

Chapter 3: Sleep Scenesiera

Cid Highwind, the quartermaster, turns out to be a Dragonqin. His scales are colored white, as most of his other features. Dragonqins are very rare nowadays, they are said to be direct descendants of Dragons. Cid has a short staff equipped on his back, it looked more like a baton only a bit longer and there's some complexity to it's design.

Chapter 3: Sleep Cardcid

As soon as Yui was close enough to speak with Cid, he turns and tells her, "Isn't she a beauty? Her name is Sierra. She's the fastest ship in Lunaris, more than capable of outrunning any Imperial Ship."

"So you must be the girl everyone has been talking about. It's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Cid Highwind. I'm the quarter master here at Ravenghast. All you stuff has already been loaded in the ship. Just climb on board when you're ready to leave. I'll be piloting of course, wouldn't want some rookie scratching my Sierra." Cid said to Yui, his accent was similar to an Irish accent.

Chapter 3: Sleep

Ravenghast
The Path of the Dragoon

Yui was surprised that the attendant was still waiting outside when she left the office, positioning her hand in such a way to avoid accidentally shooting him, as she didn't quite have a handle on her hand just yet.

Her interest piqued at the mention of a ship, following the attendant to the main grounds mostly out of curiosity but also to go to her possessions.

Yui saw the rope ladder and reacted by looking straight up, spotting some sort of flying ship just sitting overhead. Her attention came back down to the ground as she decided to stop gawking and approached Cid.

However, if she wasn't gawking at the ship she was now gawking at Cid. She had never seen a Dragonqin and found his white scales to be quite pretty, only adding onto the wow factor of having just seen an airship.

Yui closed her mouth once Cid turned around to start talking to her, doing her best not to stare or anything. She flashed him a smile and nodded in agreement to his statement. She may not have had airships in her world or ever seen one, but that didn't mean she didn't think it was beautiful.

She grabbed onto the rope ladder with her metal arm so tightly that the rope creaked, her curiosity somewhat getting the better of her. She relaxed her grip slightly and climbed onto the ladder, starting her slow climb to the ship.

For the moment, she had forgotten her troubles..

Chapter 3: Sleep

Ravenghast
The Path of the Dragoon

As soon as Yui had gotten on board the Sierra, Cid climbed up on board as well. He had his first mate return all of Yui's belongings to her as soon as she had firmly stepped on board. He showed Yui around the ship, pointing to different places like the main deck, the cabins, the rest room, the engine room, the control room, and his private quarters. He also introduced Yui to his crew, it wasn't a long list for he only had 8 people working for him.

Chapter 3: Sleep Scenecontrolroom
After the introductions, Cid asked Yui to follow him into the control room. He asked Yui to take a seat and get her seat belt on before they embarked. After Yui securely fastens her seat belt, Cid took the controls and fired up Sierra's engine.

"Alright miss, where to? I've got orders from the Grand Maester to help you find Jenn. To be honest we should've done this a long time ago. But It's only been a few days since my Sierra got back to working condition after our last crash."

Chapter 3: Sleep

Ravenghast
The Path of the Dragoon

Yui was given all of her things once she was on board and was given a tour of the Sierra, causing her to look around like an overly excited kid in a candy store. Everything was new and amazing to her, advanced but in a different way than Earth and simply beautiful.

She scoped out the control room before taking a seat and fastened the seat belt, digging a piece of paper and something to write with out of one of the pouches on her belt. She wrote on both sides, writing "Question. Lost Arm Protect Infant, What Happened?" on one side and "To Jenn" on the other.

Yui tapped on the seat loudly to try to get Cid's attention, since being unable to speak meant she'd have to get up and go over to him, defeating the purpose of strapping in to begin with. She simply held up the note with the side that had her question on it facing him, keeping it between two fingers so that she could flip it easily.

Chapter 3: Sleep

Ravenghast
The Path of the Dragoon

"Oh that?" Cid pondered. "Well King and Peach didn't say much. Except that you were a hero." The sound of Cid's voice indicated that he was lying. King and Peach had told Cid the truth, they were moments away from Yui and the baby when the Dranglings bit off Yui's arm and ate the baby. Cid figured it would only cause Yui pain, knowing that her efforts had amounted to nothing.

Then he continued, "Redhold was destroyed by, what the elders are calling, Bahamut. Bahamut is a legend, a myth among Dragons. In the books he was protector of Lunaris. He fought the Old Gods and defeated them. Now he lives within the planet, guarding the Old Gods, preventing them from returning here in the surface. At least that's what the books say."

"If he was truly here to protect us, then why would he go through all the trouble of attacking Redhold and killing all those people. If it weren't for the 3rd Lion, more people would be dead. If you're wondering, no one has seen him since the attack. Some say he was caught in the blast, but you can't really trust the eyes of someone who running away from the fight. I'm sure he's fine though. Those Imperial Lions are tough bastards."
Again his voice was wavering. Cid was unsure if Pollux survived the attack. Corneus, the 6th Lion, was already dead. Perhaps Pollux is as well.

Seeing her note that wrote to Jenn, Cid nods in agreement and says , "Alright setting a course for Lake Supot" Cid raised a level to his right gradually and as soon as he did, the Airship started moving forward. It was slowly picking up speed, until finally they were traversing the skies. Filled with hope ad purpose, the crew of the Sierra set out to find the lost Ramoan Captain Jenn Gerdis.

A few minutes into the travel, Cid suddenly calls his first mate to take over the wheel. He then notions to Yui to follow him out to the main deck. There he showed Yui the amazing view of flying in the clouds. The air was fresher in Lunaris than on Earth. "There's nothing quite like it..." Cid noted.

He then took some steps back away from Yui, while he was doing so he said, "Jenn was actually a student of mine. I know her strength so imagine my surprise when I found out that she didn't return after a simple mission."

Cid pulls out his metal staff and presses a button activating it's true form, a spear with a sharp triangular tip. He rests the spear's butt on the ship's deck while holding it upright with his dominant hand and says, "I need to make sure you're capable of doing this mission. Jenn was a very strong girl, in many ways you look like her but are you as strong as her? Let's find out."

((Make a last post then prepare for battle))

Chapter 3: Sleep

Ravenghast
The Path of the Dragoon

Yui could tell that Cid was lying about the child, giving a momentary look of sorrow before forcing herself to smile. Anyone could tell it was a false smile, as she held the sadness and disappointment in herself within.

Ikas had opted to chime in at this point, taunting Yui as she laughed. "See! You lost an arm for a child that didn't even survive! You were too weak!" She said, her voice slowly becoming quieter until she stopped speaking, though she simply replaced her words with laughter.

Laughter that simply wasn't stopping. She had to cover her mouth as she noticed she was starting to frown a little bit, closing her eyes and thinking the words "Shut up!" over and over again to try to silence the laughter.

She forced the smile once more and lowered her hand, undoing the seat belt and getting up to follow Cid out onto the main deck. Yui started to calm slightly as she took a deep breath and enjoyed the view, her hair whipping around in the winds.

The laughter was still present, but she was able to ignore Ikas a bit easier due to the view. It was then that she saw Cid bring out a weapon, intending to test her.

Yui needed to see how her new arm would handle a spear anyway, so she spun her own spear in her right hand, twirling it with some basic movements before shifting it over to the left. She seemed to have no problem, though the hand seemed like it could move faster than she used to be able to.

She twirled the spear around, bringing it up and over her head before down and behind her, passing it over to her right hand. She swung outwards right her right hand as she slid her right foot forward and bent her leg, straightening her left leg out behind her and turning slightly.

She had taken an offensive stance to signal she was ready, turning her torso slightly to the right to bring her spear back slightly and put her metal hand out in front of her in a somewhat defensive fashion.

Chapter 3: Sleep

Ravenghast
The Path of the Dragoon

Yui used her spear to pull herself to her feet, her knees shaking as she struggled to stay upright. She stared Cid down with a look of determination in her eyes, breaking her stare only when her legs gave out from under her, nearly planting her back on the main deck.

She managed to catch herself halfway and resumed staring at Cid, her vision somewhat limited after taking such a headbutt. Her mouth was open to assist in gathering air, taking huge breaths to try to recover after taking the hit to her side.

Yui absolutely couldn't continue, but she didn't want to give up, either. She managed to push herself back to her feet, attempting to take one step forward before collapsing again, putting a lot of weight onto her spear in order to catch herself once more.

Perhaps she should have stayed in bed a little longer, to recover. The laughing hadn't stopped throughout the fight, continuing in the back of her mind until Ikas piped up once again. "Ha! You got beat by an overgrown lizard!" Ikas said, laughing atop of the laughing that was already occurring and causing a strange layering effect.

Any enjoyment she may have had during the fight was quickly fading, her smile starting to warp into a frown as she tried to drown Ikas out of her mind.

Chapter 3: Sleep

Ravenghast
The Path of the Dragoon

Cid spun his spear in a fancy fashion before deactivating it. He was amused by the girl's determination but it wont be enough to save her for what lie in wait at Lake Supot. The girl needed to improve and fast if she were to succeed in her quest. Cid knew there was only one such way, but it could also mean certain death. Either way the girl was going to die if she didn't become stronger. But he knew that it would have to be her choice.

Although the winds were starting to get cold, Cid did't go inside the Sierra just yet. He holstered his weapon and said to Yui, "If you want, I could train you in the ancient ways of the Dragoon. But I must warm you, if you accept it will be equivalent to putting half yourself in a coffin. There's no guarantee that you'll succeed. If Jenn failed on her last trial."

She gave Cid a stern look and nodded, her legs slowly starting to steady themselves as she needed to lean on her spear less to keep her on her feet. She reached down to grab her writing tools from a pouch on her belt, writing her name on one side whilst writing "Train Me" on the other.

She held the note up with one hand for Cid to see, showing him the side that said "Train Me" before flipping it around and pointing to herself with a single finger. She wasn't sure how well "Yui" translated, but it was worth a shot.
